Economy Wipers

a simple way to repair wipers

Anticipating the start of the rainy season, I have found away to get those hard to find wiper blades replaced from any local parts place at minimal cost. Now I know that most Spridget enthusiasts don't drive their roadsters in the rain, solving the former problem in a relatively simple way. For those of us who do drive in the rain, this isa handy little trick.

1.) Buy any pair of blades that is twenty (20) inches or longer. I bought Trico 24 inch All Season blades on sale for $1.97.

2.) Remove your old blades carefully, try not to damage the plastic lock tabs at the ends. Note you only have to remove one tab per blade.

3.) Slide the rubber off of the metal bracket of your old blade from the end you removed the lock tab.

4.) Take a new blade and break or cut it at one of the ends. (It really doesn't matter which end.)

5.) Slide rubber off of the new blade and onto the backing of the old blade, carefully. When the new rubber has been pulled entirely through the old backing, cut the excess rubber. Two (2) Spridget wiper blades can be done by one (1) 20- 24 inch blade. For cars like mine that have three wipers, that extra blade will be needed for that final wiper.

6.) Put your new wiper blades on your vehicle and replace the plastic locking tab.

7.) Celebrate! You have replaced your blades without the hassel of ordering.
