T
IS
AN UNWRITTEN RULE that every car owner is just
a little dissatisfiedwith
his car in some respect; it may beperformance.
|
comfort,
economy or looks, but he really isn't happy
unless he has something to complain about. We
suppose there are people who are completely
happy with the car they drivebut we've yet to
meet any, and if we did meet one, we're afraid
he'd probably turn out to be pretty dull.
Sprite
owners have theirdissatisfactions too, and to
satisfy one of their complaints the enterprising
organizations represented on thse pages have
come up with five new and different front ends
for the Sprite. One comes from Switzerland,
two from Englan and two from the U.S.
These
replacement noses are all made of fiberglass,
but they differ considerably in other respects.
Two retain the stock grille, two have special
grilles and one has no grille at all. Two have
retained the alligator-type opening method,
while the others are hinged at the front. Two
have attempted to gain a little performance
via improved air penetration characteristics,
two are just "different" and one is
a vague immitation of a Ferrari Testa Rossa.
Any
of these hoods will give individuality to the
Sprite, and if we deduct the number of Sprite
owners who have no desire to change the appearance
of their cars from the grand total of U.S. Sprites,
break the remaining group down into the different
geographical areas of the country, and then
divide by five, we find that there is little
chance that anyone who installs one of these
adaptations on his car will meet himself coming
down the road
